MAJOR General Matela Matobakele has been named as one of the soldiers who allegedly tortured a man who is now demanding millions in damages from the government. Major General Matobakele is implicated in a letter of demand that Liteboho Mahloana’s lawyers sent to the Attorney General this week.
THE Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA) says will launch its Lesotho Chapter, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of risk management practices across the African continent. The launch will take place on September 18, the IRMSA said in a press statement yesterday.
The Revenue Services Lesotho in conjunction with the ’Mantsopa Rotary Club and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry led a tree planting initiative in Berea last week. The three organisations planted 5 000 trees in the village of Boinyatso, Liphookoaneng, at the base of the Maloti mountain range.

STANDARD Lesotho Bank yesterday launched a transactional campaign in Maseru. The transactional promotion will run from August 1 to December 31 this year. Rethabile Motsoahae, the Head of Personal and Private Banking at Standard Lesotho Bank, said clients must perform three or more qualifying transactions per month during the campaign period to enter the promotion.
