Prominent Zimbabwean writer, Ignatius Mabasa shocked many scholars and artists across the sub region by producing the first-ever PhD thesis written in ChiShona language at Rhodes University. That has not yet happened in any university even in Zimbabwe itself where Shona is the language of the majority of Zimbabweans.
