Sometime in March last year, Mokhothu Makhalanyane, 55, a devout Reverend with the Seventh Day Adventist church, was asked to lead prayers at an event he was not so sure what it was about. He reluctantly agreed, only to realise later that this was a clandestine political meeting of the yet to be launched Revolution for Prosperity (RFP) party led by businessman Sam Matekane. Makhalanyane says if he had been told about the political nature of the meeting, he would have tactfully declined the invite given his visceral opposition to everything political.
