A full-blown strike would be devastating

Elsewhere in this issue we carry a story of a “go slow” by health workers in the northern districts who are demanding a bump on their hardship allowance. The workers say they want the allowance increased from the current M275 to M5 000 a month. They claim that the allowance, which was first introduced under Chief Leabua Jonathan’s regime way back in 1977, has never been reviewed.
