‘Connected Car’ launched

VODACOM Lesotho, in partnership with Mafube ICT Solution (Pty) Ltd, launched a new product called Connected Car. The product is meant to solve problems like fuel cost, car maintenance, car tracking and many other problems encountered when using a car. Puseletso Putsoane, Vodacom’s manager of commercial operations, said the product is not only meant for car safety but also to bring technology to the internet of things. She said the product will bring connectivity to Basotho.

“We are in times where technology is transforming our lives, we want to change our lives and the way we interact with the world around us,” Putsoane said.

She also talked of the internet of things, a network of connected devices and systems that push innovation and drive the future for the better.

“That is where the connected car comes in because it does exactly that,” she said.

She said these connected devices are not only meant for connectivity but also for communication.

She added that the connected devices are given power to data analysis and this says they can make decisions.

“Once they have made decisions they can take an action and in real time. That is what we call innovation,” she said.

She said it is Vodacom’s intention to transform the internet of things in Lesotho.

“Our intention is not only to provide connectivity but go beyond”, she said.

“Connected Car is more than just a tracker.”

Founder of Mafube ICT, Mollo Ramollo, said they had to partner with Vodacom Lesotho since they have been through a long journey to finally reach where they are.

Ramollo said that they worked very well with Vodacom Lesotho and hopes that they will continue to work on good terms.

“There is a saying that says a journey of a thousand miles starts with one step and we are glad to be taking this step with Vodacom,” Ramollo said.

“We are now living in the fourth industrial revolution. Basotho cannot afford to be left behind,” he said.

“Mafube brings those kinds of solutions.”

He said the company began operations last year and its aim was to solve problems caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said the company will always be there for Basotho to promote technology and ensure that Basotho are not left behind.

Tanki Pule, a local sales and marketing specialist, said he would ensure that Connected Car works at its best to make sure that they are connected wherever they are.

Pule, who is also a comedian of note and a teacher, said the product was tested on his rental cars.

“I was very impressed by how it works and would recommend Basotho to try it on their cars,” Pule said.

He said this was a benefit to him because he always wanted to have internet connection in his cars and was very grateful for the chance to do so.

“People always want to use their phones everywhere. With this product matters like internet are solved and they can continue with their trips and journeys peacefully without having to worry about anything,” he said.
