Dozens of Basotho from micro, small, and medium enterprises came out in numbers and displayed their local produce.
MSMEs’ representative, ’Malitlou Morojele, emphasised the importance of Basotho’s involvement in showcasing their local produce.
Morojele highlighted the need for Basotho to actively participate in marketing their products.
“Foreigners are currently dominating business sectors in Lesotho, leaving Basotho behind,” Morojele said.
“Basotho should produce in order to boost their economy and dominate the business sector,” she said.
As a way of taking pride in their local produce, many Basotho showcased their local produce made in the country for the public to buy and view.
Members of the public were spoilt for choice with products ranging from clothes, dried fruits, juice, milk, vegetables, mozzarella cheese, food and beverages, jewellery, and cosmetics.
Relebohile Mokhele told thepost that she always looked forward to this event as it provided her with the opportunity to buy local produce that was not accessible before.
’Maqajela Lebona, who knits hats, mats, and beading, said they are thankful for the opportunity given to them to showcase their products.
“Having a dedicated spot like a market day every week would help us have a reliable platform to reach our customers and grow our business,” Lebona said.
“There is talent in Lesotho and events like this help us as small businesses to unleash and market our talents,” she said.
She also said the flea market helps their products be known and their businesses to grow.
