She told the court that her husband “did not deny this as it was public knowledge”.

“It later came to everyone’s knowledge that my husband was forced to resign from his work as principal due to his revealed secret relationship with one former student of his and he did not deny that as it was public knowledge,” ’Mathethiwe said.

’Mathethiwe told the court that she is tired of her husband’s recent behaviour. The couple has been married for 30 years.

She told the court that Hlongwane has been giving her problems since his resignation from the school.

In her court papers, ’Mathethiwe informed the court that her husband had developed a habit of assaulting her.

She said her husband recently assaulted her, telling her to move out of their matrimonial house.

She said everything was fine between them until his scandalous resignation as the school principal.

They have three children, whom she said have been affected by their father’s behaviour.

’Mathethiwe told the court that things took a wrong turn around 2020 after her husband resigned from Hlotse High School.

After his resignation, she said, her husband chased her out of their bedroom but she resisted.

However, she said all was in vain as both never had conjugal rights since that time.

’Mathethiwe said following the incident, their marriage deteriorated badly as her husband had developed a completely different character.

“He began distancing himself from me regarding the running of the family,” she said.

She said her husband then terminated his policies at the Lesotho National Insurance Group (LNIG) and Metropolitan Lesotho without involving her.

She said her husband received substantial sums of money all of which he squandered outside of his family.

“He thereafter verbally abused me and the children,” she said.

’Mathethiwe said her husband also attempted to sell off their sites at Sebothoane without her involvement as well as their Siyaya taxi.

“I would only be involved when the purported buyers were having problems with my husband,” she said.

She said last year her husband became indebted to a bank in the amount of M500 000 while the arrears were M200 000.

To prevent their house from being sold, ’Mathethiwe said she made a deal with the bank that she would settle the debt and all arrears to the house.

“I have been paying for the house bond to date,” she said.

’Mathethiwe said last month, her husband physically assaulted her and chased her out of their matrimonial home.

“I have never condoned the foregoing adulterous behaviour of my husband and all attempts (at) reconciliation (bore) no fruits,” she said, adding that their marriage “has irretrievably broken down beyond redemption”.

’Mathethiwe pleaded with the court to grant her a decree of divorce on grounds of Hlongwane’s adultery.

She also pleaded with the court to award her custody of their minor child with reasonable access to her father.

Further, she pleaded with the court to order her husband to move out of the house.
