SASAI Econet Financial Services (SEFS) donated groceries, blankets and gas worth about M40 000 to ’Mantšase Children’s Home in Mohale’s Hoek last week. The orphanage currently has 27 children, 18 boys and nine girls. Lehlohohonolo Matee, the acting General Manager of SEFS, said the company felt “deeply honoured to support ’Mantšase Children’s Home during a monumental year for Lesotho”.

The donation was part of celebrating the bicentennial founding of the Basotho nation.
Matee said as Lesotho celebrates its rich history and heritage it is crucial to remember and support those who are less fortunate.
“SEFS remains committed to being a force for good across different communities and this donation is just one of the many ways in which we aim to make a difference,” Matee said.
He also said ’Mantšase Children’s Home has been a sanctuary for many orphaned and vulnerable children in Mohale’s Hoek providing them with care, education and hope for a bright future.
“The generous donation from SEFS will ensure that the children have access to essential groceries and household items, enhancing their quality of life and supporting the home’s operations,” he said.
The director of ’Mantšase Children’s Home, Bokang Lipholo, said he was grateful to Sasai Econet for the generous support.
Lipholo said the donations will go a long way in ensuring that they can continue to provide for the children under their care.
“It is through support of this nature that we can make a lasting impact on the lives of these young ones,” Lipholo said.
He also talked of the hardships they go through as an institution to survive.
“Since Covid-19 we are really struggling because our means of living, being the donations, started coming in small numbers,” he said.
“We had to find ways of going through so that the children’s needs can still be met.”
Lipholo said they are trying as hard as they can to make the children feel that they are loved and cared for.
“I pray to God and hope that even other companies that we have approached for help can hear us and give support like Econet has done,” he said.
“It took some time for the company to help us because they told us that they needed time to prepare themselves and we still had hope that they would come and finally they came at a very good time when we needed them most.”
