A FAMILY of a Butha-Buthe man who died in the police holding cells last month is demanding M1 million compensation for his unlawful death. Katiso Makoa died under unclear circumstances while in the hands of the police last month. Police spokesman Senior Superintendent Kabelo Halahala confirmed that Makoa died while under their watch.

THE cracks in the ruling Revolution for Prosperity (RFP) party widened this week after three of its MPs openly voted with the opposition in parliament. The Lithoteng MP, Rethabile Letlailana, Matlakeng constituency’s Dr Mahali Phamotse and the Abia MP, Thuso Makhalanyane, on Tuesday voted against their own government during a key vote.

THE family of Simon Mahloko-Mohlori, 60, who died in the Thaba-Tseka police holding cells two weeks ago, is demanding answers from the police. A report by a government pathologist has suggested that Mahloko-Mohlori died from poisoning while the police say they are equally puzzled as to what killed him.

Molobeli Soulo, who died two weeks ago, will be buried tomorrow in Ha-Seoli, Maseru. Soulo was a former minister in the Prime Minister’s Office. He will be granted a state-assisted funeral.
